Sasha was transgender at the beginning of her time in high school. Those were difficult years and a lot of stress, however Sasha believed that with the support of his family and music that he was able to handle any situation. Jim and Sasha both are songwriters and have just recently formed the official duo of music. Since then, they have appeared at many local venues such as open mics. The Voice coaches never discussed the background of Sasha, however Jim and Sasha have shared their story in a video clip played prior to their performance. Both Jim and Sasha discussed the music they enjoy, as well as the way Sasha picked up the guitar for the first time at age six. His father is a musician instructor, making it easier to learn the art for Sasha. Sasha had issues with identity when he was a kid, being a woman. In a post on Instagram, he recently opened up about his difficulties. Jim was crying when he revealed the reason of his reasons for not being able to take part.
